Al Ofoq Organizes a Dialogue Session on the Dangers of Addiction

  • Bethlehem - Al-Ofoq organized a dialogue session on the dangers of addiction to Palestinian society on Sunday, January 18, 2026, with the participation of a number of local community organizations, namely the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, the Palestinian National Rehabilitation Center, the Anti-Narcotics Police, the Community Research and Knowledge Library, the Phoenix Association (Real Academy), Aida Youth Center, Al-Amal Center and School, Dar Salah Charitable Society, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida newspaper, and a number of youth activists.

    The session addressed the most prominent causes of addiction and its negative repercussions on individuals, families, and society, in addition to discussing the psychological, social, and economic effects. The session also shed light on prevention methods and the role of civil and official institutions in raising awareness and reducing the spread of this phenomenon.

    The participants emphasized the importance of intensifying joint efforts, strengthening partnerships between local community organizations, and working to implement awareness programs targeting the youth, in order to protect Palestinian society and build a conscious generation capable of facing challenges.

    Dr. Muhammad Al-Fararja, the Executive Director of Al-Ofoq Foundation for Youth Development, affirmed that organizing this dialogue session comes within the framework of the Foundation's commitment to highlighting sensitive community issues that directly affect the youth, most notably the phenomenon of addiction. He explained that addiction poses a real threat to the Palestinian social fabric, which calls for concerted efforts between official and civil institutions to enhance awareness and adopt preventive and awareness programs that contribute to protecting young people and empowering them to face this phenomenon and reduce its negative effects.
